Sixth Street / Austin

After bringing Lilly back to the RV we decided to explore downtown Austin some more and visited 6th Street. The whole area reminded us of Bourbon Street in New Orleans. Bar next to bar, tattoo shop, trinket store, restaurant, bouncers standing outside trying to lure you in with deals, homeless drugged up people sleeping in the side roads and doorways. ATM machines caged in and chained up to buildings. Some bars looked like Honky Tonks just less inviting. The smell of human excrement, stale and fresh cigarette smell mixed with spilled alcohol lingered everywhere.

We tried to have lunch at Iron Cactus but they ONLY serve brunch until 3 PM. We walked another block and found a sports bar with some vegetarian items on the menu. Andrea had wings and I had a “fried avocado” tacos with slaw …actually pretty good and freshly made.
