Natchez Trace

We were exploring the Natchez Trail and decided to take the dogs on a small hike from the parking area at the Memorizl of the War of 1812.

It was about a 40 min drive from the campground to get to the northern terminus of of the Trace. The memorial inscription stated that the trace was used to move troops to defenses of the gulf coast region… thats a heck of a walk, so next time you take the car to drive the 400 feet from walmart to lowes remember that these guys not only went to war but also had to walk hundreds of miles.

The Trace Itself is  beautiful, well worn, meadows on each side, hard to believe that many unknown soldiers are buried along each side.
